The Trolley Museum People

The museum depends on people like you to make everything happen. Here is a sampling of people in action!

Young volunteers Collin Schoonmaker, Harold Anderson and Chris Coddington work on improving a path to the subway car.

On June 14, 2011, IBM hosted an event at the Walkway Over the Hudson to recognize the service organizations and IBM volunteers who participated in IBM's Centennial Year of Service. There were more than 2000 IBM employees in the Hudson Valley who volunteered at over 50 organizations. As seen here, at the conclusion of the event, each organizaton was invited to carry their banners across the bridge.

IBM Centennial Year of Service Volunteers

On Friday, May 20, 2011, IBMers from throughout the Hudson Valley descended upon the Trolley Museum and accomplished an impressive amount of work. Projects included laying sod in the picnic area, mulching the traffic islands in the parking lot, picking up brush, organizing parts, building a planter, painting a locomotive and cleaning a subway car. We want to thank the IBM volunteers and IBM management for making this possible.

The Kingston Land Trust in conjunction with the City of Kingston's Clean Sweep and the Trolley Museum organized a cleanup of the right of way behind the Rondout Savings Bank. The details have yet to be worked out, but the plan is that this unused section of right of way will become part of a trail system extending from Midtown Kingston to Kingston Point.

In this picture from L-R in green T-shirts are Alderman Hayes Clement, Steve Ladin and Gregg Swanzey.

Give a Day, Get a Disney Day

The Trolley Museum hosted monthly special volunteer days for the 2010 Give a Day, Get a Disney Day program for people who registered through Disneyparks.com. The concept is simple: volunteer for a day at a qualifying non-profit organization and receive a free day pass to a Disney park. The program exceeded all expectations nationwide when 1 Million people registered for the program within weeks of it opening!

The Trolley Museum received about 100 confirmed registrants who's work days were spread evenly between four monthly dates from March to June 2010.
