This car is representative of the early IRT fleet of over 2500 cars. The spartan interiors have rattan bench seats along the side walls of the car. The Lo-V designation refers to the use of low voltage current (32 Volts) in the motorman's controls which was introduced in 1915 and became a standard safety feature. In its later days, 5600 was used by the Transit Authority as a training car.
